The Art of Being a Great Teammate Masterclass gives clear direction, tools, and techniques to become a more effective employee and teammate.  Each of the 12 sessions includes practical applications designed to give you tools that can be used immediately.  This program fits nicely with our Art of Being a Great Boss masterclass and will enable employees and managers to have better rapport and be more effective at getting results.

This program will be delivered live virtually and facilitated by Mack Munro. You will have an opportunity to chat with him before your sessions to address any nuances of the group and get a chance to ask them any questions.

This program is modularized and delivered over 12, one-hour sessions.  The sessions are recorded so participants can go back and review.  Each participant receives a workbook, two assessments, and access to our interactive MIRO board.

Session 1:  How to Take Charge of Your Career Development

All of us know what a job is but have you really taken the time to think about a career? If not, then this session is for you. Career plans are necessary if you want to live a professional life that is rewarding, productive, and done with purpose. Your career plans reflect YOU and you’ll need to put in the hard work to define it.

After completing this session, you will be able to:

  • Determine personal values, goals, and plans.
  • Identify career milestones and objectives.
  • Find out what key skills and unique behaviors they have and how to leverage them.

Session 2:  How to Manage Your Boss

We look at our managers for guidance, advice, and direction.  Did you know that YOU have some responsibility for managing your boss?  This session will give you a better understanding of the four core personality traits all human beings possess.    You can use this information to build better rapport and communication with your boss.

After completing this session, you will be able to:

  • Understand your own Temperament.
  • Identify the Temperament of your boss.
  • Use this information to improve your communication and relationship with your manager.

Session 3: How to Deal with Conflict and Difficult People

Conflict happens when what we want is not what we are currently experiencing.  It’s often caused by people we deem as “being difficult.”  Very few people wake up each day wanting to be as difficult as possible.  Often, it’s a simple lack of self-awareness that’s the cause.

After completing this session, you will be able to:

  • Define the most commons sources of conflict.
  • Identify behaviors that are “difficult.”
  • Develop strategies to make the most of useful conflict.
  • Select the most useful approach when it comes to dealing with conflict.

Session 4: How to Get Results Without Authority

Without formal or positional power, you might feel unable to get what you and your team need to be successful.  It may be hard to believe, but most of us have massive amounts of untapped power and influence that we either under-use or don’t use at all.

After completing this session, you will be able to:

  • Identify your sources of power and influence.
  • Leverage this to influence others even if you have no authority.
  • Use a step-by-step process to promote your ideas and initiatives through the organization.

Session 5: How to Solve Problems and Make Decisions Like a Boss

All of us have experienced inconveniences, service breakdowns, and poor quality. It’s always easy to blame people, but in most cases, these problems come from process problems. Solving them is the key to better productivity, satisfaction, and personal credibility. This course will show participants how to approach problems systematically and solve them decisively.

After completing this session, you will be able to:

  • View problems through the lens of systems thinking.
  • Effectively use a Force Field Analysis, Flowchart, Fishbone Diagram, Affinity Diagram, Run Chart, and OSGO™ Process.
  • Communicate system and process improvement solutions to senior management.

Session 6: How to Manage Projects with E.A.S.E.

Most of us aren’t designated project managers, but we often are asked to take ownership for, and manage a project.  Using the backdrop of the construction of the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, MO, you’ll learn practical tips on how to make sure our project is on track and successful.

After completing this session, you will be able to:

  • Identify project milestones to pay attention to.
  • Avoid the most common pitfalls of project management.
  • Implement 4 strategies to manage your project with E.A.S.E.

Session 7: How to Negotiate to Reach Agreement

Dealing with others in a busy environment can lead to unhealthy conflict. This prevents good decisions from being made and negates the ability to find a win-win solution. This course will show participants how to approach negotiation systematically by using good questions and managing emotion.

After completing this session, you will be able to:

  • Improve communication and ask the right questions.

Session 8: How to Communicate When Understanding is Critical

Failure to communicate effectively is the primary cause of work-related problems and broken relationships. To work better with others, we must learn the best way to send our verbal and non-verbal messages. This course will show participants how effectively communicate to ensure business gets done!

After completing this session, you will be able to: 

  • Navigate the process of encoding and decoding messages.
  • Use subtle techniques to build rapport with others.

Session 9:  How to Conquer Your Unconscious Bias

Human beings are prone to make decisions without thinking them through. Even if they do, there is a chance that an unconscious bias can subtly and negatively affect them. This seminar will show participants how to identify and override an unconscious bias.

After completing this session, you will be able to:

  • Learn the common ways human beings “see” each other.
  • Effectively explain the Ladder of Inference model and how it impacts inter-office relationships.
  • Develop strategies to look objectively at people and situations to be a more effective co- worker and teammate.

Session 10:  How to W.I.N. at Customer Service

Whether our customers are internal or external, they affect how successful we, our department, and our organization can be. This course will show participants how to apply simple but effective techniques to provide better internal or external customer service.

After completing this session, you will be able to:

  • Better identify customer needs.
  • Solve root issues of customer complaints using the SOAP™ Process.
  • Work through scripting to better communicate customer solutions.

Session 11:  How to Succeed in a Multi-Generational Workplace

One today’s biggest communication barriers is the gap between generations. Today there are potential five generations working together, and each brings unique challenges. The key to overcoming this is the knowledge and understanding of what each generation brings to the organization.

After completing this session, you will be able to:

  • Flex personal communication styles to meet the challenges of generational differences.
  • Recognize how values, work style, cultural influences and career expectations influence communications.
  • Reduce interpersonal conflict and ensure more successful teamwork.

Session 12:  How to Take Care of Your SELF

As flight attendants will tell you, it’s important that we make sure our own oxygen masks are on before assisting other passengers.  This lesson applies to you.  Human beings are a combination of mind, body, and spirit and those three areas need to be attended to.  This final session will give you practical strategies to keep yourself effective, healthy, and balanced.

After completing this session, you will be able to:

  • View yourself holistically.
  • Develop habits that will challenge yourself to be more effective.
  • Adopt behaviors and practices that will help you manage stress.
