Let me share a very important secret with you.  For some of us, it’s the key to longevity, health, and total wellness.  It could help us be immune to certain diseases and medical conditions.  It can give us more meaningful time with our family.  It can enable us to attend our grandkids’ weddings and maybe even bounce our great-grandkids on our knee.

Here is the secret.

The secret is:  diet and exercise!

Hey, you’re not excited are you?  You’ve heard this one before.  To lose weight and be healthy, you need to watch your diet and get more exercise.

Simple…but not easy.

That’s how a lot of things are.  Let’s take for example dealing with poor performers at work.

  1. Call them into your office
  2. Close the door
  3. Tell them where the gap in their performance is
  4. Stress the consequences
  5. Kick them out and warn them about what happens if this problem isn’t fixed

Simple…but not easy.

You’ll find that most problems have pretty simple solutions.

  • Not enough money to make it through the month?  Save more and spend less.
  • Relationships not good? Put down your phone and talk to your partner.
  • Kids misbehaving in school? Take away the video games and phone and lay out some consequences.

All simple…but not easy.

This week, as you’re dealing with the frustrations of being The Boss, just remember that most problems have a pretty simple solution.  Are you willing to do that even if it’s not easy?  That’s a big choice.  Ownership or blame.  If you’re The Boss, I’m encouraging you to do the simple but not easy option.
