Phase I – Getting Started as The Boss

Driving Results:  How to Build Rapport                                             Duration:  1 day

Description: 

One of the keys to being a successful Boss is your ability to build rapport with your director reports, peers, and your Boss.  Driving Results:  How to Build Rapport gives you the knowledge and skills to navigate those relationships successfully.  In this one-day interactive course, you will learn to:

  • Embrace your role as The Boss.
  • Navigate the changes in your role such as managing former peers and associates.
  • Better communicate one-on-one and inside your organization.
  • Understand your behavior patterns and those of others through the lens of personality Type using the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® or the Kiersey Temperament Sorter.

Participants will take the assessment prior to the workshop and have results delivered and debriefed during the session.


Driving Results:  How to Manage Performance                             Duration:  1/2 day

Description:

Managing performance and developing your direct reports is a key goal in being The Boss.  Driving Results:  How to Manage Performance  gives you the knowledge and skills to diagnose performance issues and remedy them through effective coaching and feedback.  In this half-day interactive course, you will learn to:

  • Use diagnostic tools such as the 3-Legged Stool of Great Performance™ and the M-4 Development Model™.
  • Diagnose performance issues through the use of effective feedback.
  • Coach employees for success using the PUSH™ and PULL™ methodologies.

Participants will be encouraged to bring their real-world challenges to the workshop to guided help using the course materials.


Phase II – Growing as The Boss

Driving Results:  How to be More Emotionally Intelligent        Duration:  1/2 day

Description: 

Being an intellectually smart boss is important, but not as important as being EMOTIONALLY smart.  Driving Results:  How to Be More Emotionally Intelligent gives you the knowledge and skills to manage yourself and more effectively manage relationships with peers, direct reports, and your Boss.  In this half-day interactive course, you will learn to:

  • Identify the four key indicators of emotional intelligence.
  • Assist other in navigating uncomfortable changes.
  • Take charge of conflict and leverage it to forge stronger relationships.

Participants will be encouraged to bring their real-world challenges to the workshop to guided help using the course materials.


Driving Results:  How to Improve Systems and Processes   Duration:  1/2 day

Description: 

As The Boss, you are relied upon to make sure operations are running as effectively as possible.  It takes a change in perspective and in thinking to do it well.  Driving Results:  How to Improve Systems and Processes  gives you the knowledge and skills to diagnose operational challenges and solve them using tested and true tools..  In this half-day interactive course, you will learn to:

  • Use diagnostic tools such as the Flowchart, Fishbone, and Affinity diagram.
  • Diagnose system and process problems and develop successful improvements.
  • Communicate your findings logically and thoroughly to senior management.

Phase III – Being The Boss

Driving Results:  How to Succeed as The Boss        Duration:  1/2 day

Description: 

With your foundation firm in your journey as The Boss, it’s time to take on bigger challenges such as planning, negotiation, and contining your own professional development.  Driving Results:  How to Succeed as The Boss gives you the knowledge and skills to add greater value to your organization by being more strategic in your approach to work and to problems.  In this half-day interactive course, you will learn to:

  • Be a more effective at planning and prioritizing.
  • Negotiate for more win/win solutions.
  • Navigate organizational politics and alliances.
  • Identify your sources of power and influence.
  • Take charge of your own career path and development.
